Its privacy forward - its built on top of 
Jewelbox which guarantees that only you acting within the Notekeeper web-app can decrypt and access your notes.

Notekeeper only charges for storage (and AI, when used). Small notes are often smaller than 1000 bytes and its rare to see notes exceeding 100K bytes. A 1M bytes storage on Jewelbox costs a surprisingly small 15 milli-cents a week.
We believe that Notekeeper is compelling enough to retain you for its advantages and not because it has locked you in. Thus, Notekeeper allows you to download your notes in widely supported, open and easy to understand formats (JSON, Markdown) if you want to migrate to another notes app.
Notekeeper is a great way to bring personal knowledge and context into AI conversations. The Notekeeper chatbot uses state-of-the-art OpenAI AI models and uses the contents of your note for context in your conversations. We also believe this this is a more powerful, explicit and transparent way of providing "memory" to chatbots than what most other chatbots have used.
The notes in Notekeeper can be linked to each other and linked notes show up as references at the bottom. The linked note's summary - shown in references - is used by AI to optionally fetch that note in the chatbot if it is relevant to the conversation.
The chatbot also has capabilities to edit your note. AI edits, are user-screened - the changes are explicitly shown in the note and the user confirms changes before saving them.
Your decrypted notes _are_ sent to OpenAI's cloud services (outside of the Jewelbox environment) to generate AI responses. However, the ownership of your data is not given to OpenAI:
Also, notes data is sent to OpenAI only if you use the AI features in Notekeeper. You can choose which model to use for your AI conversations and pricing across them is transparent.
