Personal digital data needs a home 🏠

It is incredible to see modern technology deliver incredible experiences when combined with our personal data (think photos, health/fitness, financial etc.). Unfortunately, many data custodians also use personal data to extract illegitimate gains from our engagement – such as biasing our internet search and media recommendations, recommending pricier products to us and spamming us with click-bait.

Jewelbox provides web-apps for personal digital experiences which opts-out of any such non-consented use of personal data. We achieve this by:

  • Building web-apps which don't exfiltrate personal data outside of JewelBox.
  • Encrypting your data in the browser before storing on our servers, so that it is impossible to inspect or mine your personal information there.
  • Keeping the encryption keys only with you on your device protected by modern bio-metrics capable hardware.

While the above may sound complex, our web-apps are also very simple to use.

Most apps in-use today are high cost and inaccessible across many devices and platforms.

We want to change the narrative here
We believe web-apps can deliver high-quality user experiences across several devices and platforms. Shared cloud resources can be used to deliver surprisingly low cost. Jewelbox is a way to achieve this while keeping users in control of the privacy of their most cherished digital data.

We make money from pay-per-use fees for the cloud resources used by these apps. We don't follow the monthly subscription model.

Notekeeper

Notekeeper: An AI powered private notes app

Notekeeper, our first web app, is an AI powered, end-to-end encrypted notes app.

While there are several note taking apps, Notekeeper is unique because of the combination of four things:

  • Its a modern and intuitive web-app which is available across many devices and platforms.
  • Its privacy forward - it encrypts and stores notes data in the Jewelbox cloud.
  • It comes with an AI assistant which can use your notes for context based lookup and analysis.
  • It is pay-as-you-go based on storage and AI use and not a subscription based service.

We are working on a Photos app and an AI based app builder. We want double down on hyper-personalized applications backed by our privacy and end-to-end encryption stance.

No email / phone# necessary

Our account registration and login process doesn't require email / phone ids. As a result we cannot spam you and cannot leak your personal details to anybody.
Payments are handled by Paddle which is a well established payment processor. They custody payment information; Jewelbox itself doesn't have any knowledege of payment details.

No lock-in

We provide various ways of downloading your data across our apps in case you choose to move to a different service.
